On August 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima and then another on Nagasaki three days later. NEW ORLEANS – A lawsuit by property owners in the Lower 9th Ward and St. Bernard Parish against the Army Corps Engineers alleging that the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet caused catastrophic flooding of their homes can go forward after a ruling by a federal court judge.

Judge Susan Braden ruled that plaintiffs do have cause to sue the U.S. government and that the corps is not immune to litigation.
