About Me:
I was not aware of the true destruction hurricane Katrina caused, or the faulty levees, until last year. Gordon posted articles, videos, etc. on a28 and I was stunned and angry that the mainstream media had just let all of the victims fall out of sight. I can't believe that so much time has passed, and so little has been done to rectify the destruction of people's lives and their property.
I'm always changing, always questioning things, I love to learn something new. I love the mountains, hiking, camping, anything involving nature and exploring. I buy organic as much as possible and love trying new vegan recipes.I love art, music, reading, star gazing...I love going to plays.
I worry about what the future of our country will be like for my children and future grandchildren.

What If You Knew
David Rovics

If you knew that the earth was dying
If they said this on the news
If they would clarify the picture
Instead of seeking to confuse
If you could see the ice caps melting
If you could watch the oceans rise
If you could see the consequences
Right before your eyes
If you knew the kids were dying
If you could look inside
The river where their food comes from
Filled with cyanide
If you could hear the parents pleading
If they were looking right at you
If you could see the anguish in their hearts
What if you knew

If you knew the bombs were falling
If they showed them hit the ground
If you could see the bodies flying
If you could hear the sound
If you could see the rubble
Where the hospital once stood
If you saw the child's lifeless limbs
Would you hold them if you could
If you knew that they were lying
Every time they spoke
For every laser-guided pinprick
There were lives lost in the smoke
If instead of just the generals
They had doctors, too
To describe the carnage of the cluster bombs
What if you knew

If you knew what they were saying
When they think you cannot hear
If you understood what they do
If for you it was so clear
If you knew they shut down the factory
In an economic ruse
If you could kiss the cheek of the child
In the sweatshop that made your shoes
If every time we went to war
To fight our evil foes
They told you we were really fighting
For the good of CEOs
If you could feel the hunger of the many
And see the riches of the few
If they told it like it is
What if you knew

If you knew that you were living
In a huge conspiracy
Would you leave your suburbs
Get out of your SUV
Would you hit the streets
And fight for all our lives
Would you hold your ground
When the stormtrooper arrives
If you knew that the whole planet
Depended on what you do now
Would you take command
With the speed our times allow
If the pundits told the truth
For just a week or two
And real life was shown on TV
What if you knew

America: Freedom to Fascism

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS A PRIVATE BANK?

  • Are you aware by May of 2008 the law will require you to carry a national identification card?

  • Are you aware that there are plans being developed to have all Americans embedded with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) computer chip under their skin so they can be tracked wherever they go?

  • Are you aware the Supreme Court has ruled that the government has no authority to impose a direct unapportioned tax

WTF?

I have WTF moments at least a dozen times a day. This one has been brewing for a couple of days. My daughter came into the kitchen Monday night and wanted to show me a YouTube video on her itouch. Shirley Phelps Roper. Here's the thing...after researching this woman and her church (Westboro Baptist Church) I see that they've been on the scene stirring trouble for quite some time now. I've been offline for 6+ months and 99% of the time, I don't watch

Well, thank you Shannon!
I"m very proud of Gordon and the work he is doing.
The only downside is that he has been too busy to get home for a visit! Thank goodness for video chats!

Hi! Gordon created this site~ he was nice enough to invite me over, and then I invited some of my a28 friends over. :-) Gordon has done an amazing job with this network!! There is a ton of info. and videos posted on here. I have learned so much from him over the past year~ I was clueless about faulty levees until Gordon posted info. about it on a28. Ever since then, I've tried to follow his postings and watch the videos. It breaks my heart to see how our country has turned our back on all of the people down there.
By the way, I need you to email me your Bush poster again. The hard drive went out on my computer and I lost the one that I had. Another semester has started at school...another opportunity to put the posters up all over campus. :-) Delete Comment

Final day touring The Netherlands with CoDel

Shortly, I will begin my final day touring the Netherlands with Senator Mary Landrieu’s Congressional Delegation. For the past two days, HJ Bosworth Jr and I, along with two members of the Army Corps of Engineers and others, have departed promptly at 7am and returned after 10p. The days have been long, but [...]

See Levees.org on Fox 8 WVUE on Friday May 22

See Levees.org Friday night on Fox 8 TV WVUE on our presentation to the LSU Chancellor of over 4,000 petition signatures urging him to reconsider his decision to dismiss Ivor van Heerden. The story will also cover how over 1,000 Louisiana citizens contacted Governor Bobby Jindal urging him to talk to the Chancellor. Other news: Follow HJ Bosworth [...]

Over 4,000 Petition signatures supporting Ivor van Heerden sent to LSU Chancellor

Last month, in response to public outrage over Louisiana State University’s decision to terminate Dr. Ivor van Heerden, Levees.org posted a petition on its website. This morning, Levees.org sent an excel sheet listing over 4,000 petition signatures to LSU Chancellor Mike Martin in support of Dr. van Heerden. The letter and signatures can be seen on the [...]

Encouraging news from Dr. Ivor van Heerden

Today I received good news from Dr. Ivor van Heerden. He was invited to meet with a member of the Governor’s office who inquired about his issues at Louisiana State University. He also discussed the potential of Dr. van Heerden’s collaborating with the Governor’s Office on Coastal Activities in the future. For those unfamiliar [...]

Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La., will this month lead the second Congressional Delegation to the Netherlands to study the Dutch integrated water management system. Louisiana and administration officials, including EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, will join Sen. Landrieu to study the world-class water management and flood protection system in the Netherlands, which shares many of Louisiana’s challenges [...]

Support the VGJ

www.veteransgreenjobs.org

Our Mission

The Veterans Green-Jobs (VGJ) provides training opportunities for military veterans in the emerging green-collar jobs sector. Veterans Green-Jobs Training Program incorporates green-collar college programs, intensive residential training and veterans’ restoration corps. In addition, VGJ seeks to provide a wide range of complimentary resources to assist veterans in post-war civilian reintegration. VGJ will also link trained veterans to green businesses in search of new leaders through a national Green-Jobs Clearinghouse.

The VGJ addresses three primary needs:

• Military veterans' need for meaningful, restorative careers

• Our country's need for a green-collar workforce

• Veterans' and veterans organizations' needs for supporting post-war civilian reintegration

By supporting both veterans and the development of a green economy, the VGJ’s work is restorative to our veterans, our economy and our planet.
